The New Orleans Fencers' Club has been providing fencing instruction and practice since 2005. After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina the NOFC was formed from the New Orleans Fencing Club and Academy which was established by Dr. Eugene Hamori in the late 1970's. Making our linage one of the longest continually operating clubs in the Greater Metropolitan Area. We are a fully accredited and insured member of the United States Fencing Association.
Fencing is a fast-paced and athletic competition which evolved out of historical swordsmanship and military training. Fencing is one of only four sports to be included in every modern Olympic Games since the first in 1896. It was also an event in the original Olympic Games in ancient Greece.
It is a sport for all ages and levels of athletic ability. Because it ultimately relies on skill and not merely physical prowess, it allows people of all ages and strengths to compete equally.
Modern fencing is also safe. Protective equipment and rules stress safety and sportsmanship.
